Persistence isn’t about being fearless — it’s about being brave while you’re wobbling. Here’s why sticking with it, even when it’s messy or complicated, is the real secret to success.
The Myth of Easy Success
Ever wish life came with an “easy” button? (smile)
Yeah, me too. All the time. But here’s the truth: if success were simple, everyone would have it.
Most people would rather order a pizza and watch a boxset. Chasing a big dream is not their preference, and honestly, no judgement. But that’s what makes persistence such a superpower.
If I am honest, this used to work for me most of the time. Most people give up when it gets uncomfortable. So if you can keep going, you’ve already outrun half your competition.
Persistence isn’t about being the most talented or confident — it’s about showing up when the sparkle wears off. Because here’s the secret. Ready? : success is 95% repetition and 5% magic.

When Fear Freezes Progress
Now, let’s talk about that awkward, sticky bit — the part where you almost finish… and then stop.
I used to do this all the time. I’d start courses. I’d tick all the boxes. I would complete every bit of work required. Then, right at the end, I’d freeze. I did this during my A-Levels and Mathematics degree studies. My first Coaching Diploma. Listen, I have the t-shirts – all of them.
I really didn’t understand it then. It wasn’t laziness. It was fear.
That quiet, sneaky kind that whispers, “Why bother hand it in? You’ll fail anyway.”
You know what I mean. When you’ve spent years being told you’re not enough, that voice doesn’t vanish. It camps out, rent-free, and narrates your life.
But here’s what I learned: persistence isn’t about being perfect. It’s about moving forward even when you’re terrified. Every pause, every wobble, shows you where your healing still needs love.
When I finally finished my initial hypnotherapy diploma training, the certificate didn’t matter. I know you’re wondering how I can say that after all this time and effort. It was the moment I realised I could trust myself to finish. I could trust myself to be more curious.
Do It Scared. Do It Messy. Do It Anyway.
You don’t have to be fearless to finish — you just have to begin. That is why I am always banging on about it- just begin.
Persistence is a partnership between who you are now and who you’re becoming. It’s not punishment — it’s proof that you’ve decided your story won’t end with “almost.”
Every time you take a tiny, brave step — even when it’s messy — you’re building self-trust. That’s what changes everything.
So, if you’re waiting for the perfect time to start (or restart), this is your nudge:
Go now. Do it scared. Do it messy. Do it anyway.
One day, you’ll look back. You’ll realise that persistence wasn’t just what got you there. It’s what made you who you are.
“Persistence isn’t about grinding harder — it’s about loving yourself enough to finish what matters.”
I am so passionate about this . No more wasting time beating yourself up because:
Every step you take, no matter how small, is a step toward a brighter, more balanced future.
Trust your journey — progress is progress, no matter the pace. Cheryl Paris
